Up North

What do you think when you hear the term, “Up North”?  Well if you’re a Michigander you automatically think of Sleeping Bear Dunes, nature, kayaking, camping, Leeland, smoked fish, Traverse City, water, Lake Michigan, Beulah, The U.P., Mackinac, the bridge, the beauty. The list really can go on and on. But what I think about when I hear the term, “up north” is our home away from home. It is our heaven on earth.

I find that a lot of my color inspiration comes from this most amazing place! When trying to decide on a new hair color, or how to match new colors of seasons with the tones of the newest fashions I love to look at what is going on in nature. Take the sunsets and sunrise for example. As I am sure most of you know they are almost always breath taking. But when I see a sunset or sunrise I think of how can I incorporate that into a makeup application, or hair color. The movement of the color, the shades and tones, and the complementary colors that work together. Appreciating this natural work of art makes every application of makeup new and exciting because I try to see what colors I can softly add to make it reminiscent to the sunsets of the north.

So, take a minute and forget all the worries of the world and look around you! Look at the colors our universe has given us, and I challenge you to incorporate them into your daily looks. It will encourage you to be naturally bold and exciting with your fashion, and self expression.
